Forecasting isn’t just about calling a number — It’s about getting accurate data and creating an action plan.The problem is - most leaders can’t see deal hurdles until it’s too late (...and the deal may already be lost)!That’s why my favorite thing to do every morning is to look at my Deal Board – the RED FLAG deal warnings allows me to see potential risks identified directly by prospects across my entire team’s pipeline, so I can instantly see where we need to focus in order to win. This also shows: -which deals are stalled (and why)-who to needs to get involved -which deals are beginning to ghost us I spend about 30 minutes every day on my MEDDPICC Deal Board (...which automatically inspects our pipeline) to move deals forward and forecast based on data I trust. A little bit of truth serum (eg. VISIBILITY) can turn your deal (or entire quarter) around! Happy selling! #UnlockReality
Gong is the first platform I log into and the last thing I check at the end of the day. Why? The deals section. It’s where I go to understand my business as the Senior Director of Sales at Uberflip. Of course, much of my coaching, enablement, and customer feedback lives in Gong, but for my day-to-day job of serving a team that is focused on driving revenue from new logos, it’s indispensable. Our team cadence is probably similar to yours, so you should be able to use the tips below about how Gong fits into our routine. Its place in our process is critical to being effective on the front lines and communicating accurate numbers up to my senior exec team and board. For our Community team event this quarter, @Molly Kipnis and I met with Michelle Carter, an olympic athlete and gold medalist. Michelle has an inspiring life - her dad (also her coach), won an olympic medal the same year he won a Superbowl ring and Michelle even suffered a debilitating injury and bounced back! Other ways to create a vision board: consider using words, they double as affirmations and also consider writing out your bio. Imagine what it looks like. If you see it, you believe it. This is one of the hardest things to do in sales. Let’s make sure you know how to do it right. Things are lined up nicely. You have a good relationship with someone below the executive level who’s telling you what you want to hear, saying it’s “with their manager”, or being just nice enough that you stick around even though you know they can’t get the deal done. Here’s the kicker: They will never be able to say yes, but they can definitely say no and ruin the whole deal if you upset them by going over their head to the real decision maker. You have four options. Choose according to your circumstances: Start highYes, it’s a bit late for this, but I’m adding it here to reinforce the importance of starting your prospecting at the highest level possible and getting referred down. If you prospect into the C-suite without trying to sell to them, and you ask for a referral down, you have an open door to go back to if the deal gets stuck. One of the toughest challenges we face as frontline managers is a lack of time. Between closing deals/renewals and managing escalations, it’s incredibly difficult to find time to polish and execute a consistent coaching plan. Below are three tips that have helped me develop a simple, time-friendly coaching plan that leverages the Gong platform: 1. Coach on your mobile You might be surprised to learn that I do about 75% of my coaching on the Gong mobile app. I’m at my most productive when I listen to calls while doing things I enjoy. For example, I often listen to calls while I’m just getting my day going, taking a lunch break, or on a walk. The mobile app makes it super easy to coach on the go. 2. Address two key pointsI don’t like leaving a ton of comments in a rep’s call, as too much info is hard for the rep to implement. This year, one of my goals is to establish a more consistent morning routine. Now that I have a new puppy, I've had to shift my routine a bit to make sure that she and I are both taken care of before I start work in the morning! One thing I've been trying to do more of in the mornings is practice gratitude. I recently bought the Five Minute Journal and have been writing down three things that I'm grateful for and a couple of daily affirmations to help positively shape my day.
